Well, well, well, lost has happened since the last diary posting and as I’m sitting here typing I cannot believe that it’s a month and half since my last post. So let’s catch up shall we?
Well, it’s October which mean it’s Open Studios in Santa Cruz and again this year mom and I are two of the three hundred artists that were accepted to participate. If you’re in Santa Cruz during the third weekend of October be sure to stop by the studio to see mom’s beautiful hand crafted jewelry and my photographs. And of course we’ll have Serendipity and cheese offerings as well as plenty of wine! We’re artist number 23 and 24 listed on the 2009 Open Studios Calendar. Or for an adventure just follow the green signs around town on Saturdays and Sundays.
On the store front. Jam has been selling! In new news happening around Santa Cruz we are now apart of SantaCruzLocalFoods.com and all organic “combination farmers market and CSA with the variety of a grocery store all online!” We currently have a couple of organic jams and organically pickled fruit posted on their site. When you’re finished reading this head over to their site and pick up all of your weekly food provisions. You’ll find fresh organic fruits, veggies, eggs, meats, flowers, jam and much much more! Did I mention everything is organic? Two thumbs up!
In September I also had the pleasure of doing my first First Friday at Stripe in downtown Santa Cruz. It’s a wonderful store that has just about everything from really cute clothes to handcrafted home furnishings and our jam! It’s definitely worth a trip and a must if you’re already downtown. For the event we paired Spiced Carrot Jam & I Dig Fig Jam with crumbled Point Reyes Blue and a creamed blue cheese (recipe soon to be posted) on toasted baguette. On the sweeter side we served Brandied Cherry Jam & Apricot with Cognac with a cream cheese filling in two bite tarts and as a spread with waffle cookies. All were a huge hit!
We also had our first in-store sampling at Whole Foods Santa Cruz towards the end of September which was blast. I met lots of great people and sold out of Spice Carrot Jam but that really shouldn’t surprise anyone least not me. The next in-store appearance will be Friday October 9th at the Downtown New Leaf.
In other new news, we have added the Tuesday night Monterey Farmers Market to our schedule. We’ve been filling in for absent vendors for the past 3 weeks and hopefully soon we’ll have a permanent position. It’s a wonderful market (think street fair) that is three blocks long. If you’re ever in Monterey on Tuesday you much stop by and check it out.
