It was time again for Cooking for Solutions at the Monterey Bay Aquarium which also meant celebrating our two year anniversary on the main deck, over looking the ocean. Last weekend on the Monterey Bay could not have been more beautiful. The weather predictions said to expect heavy cold drizzly fog and it seemed early on that the weather report was going to dead on however, mid morning the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect.
We arrived in the morning to set up our table and we were greeted by many friends we had made throughout the year like Jeff from Fog Hollow Farm, whom was quick to remind us that we still had not been up to the farm, Dan from Happy Girl Kitchen, Deanna from Belle Vue Olive Olive Oil, as well as the great team from Whole Foods. It was funny, all we could say to each other was, “has it already been a year?”
This year the marketplace was expanded to include the whole deck! Which meant more artisan food companies were able to join in the fun! We made a few new friends such as Benoit from St. Benoit Yogurt in Sonoma, Miguel from Papalote Salsa in San Francisco, as well as Kendra and Zach from the Penny Ice Creamery in Santa Cruz. It’s kind of funny, Serendipity and the Penny Creamery are almost down the street from each other yet it took being at the Aquarium to actually meet.
After setting up and making the rounds to meet the other companies, the doors opened, and we were off to the races. This year our offerings included Pear & Rosemary, Strawberry & Lavender Preserves, Red Raspberry Jam, and Meyer Lemon & Lavender Marmalade. It was so much fun to see people getting excited about our preserves and after the first taste most said, “Oh that IS really good! I can’t wait to try the others!”
Needless to say, the weekend was amazing and we’d like to thank everyone who has added a little Serendipity to their life in the past two years as well as a BIG thank you to the Whole Foods team for inviting us to be apart of this great event for a second year!
Until next time,
Kristen & Lynette
